Research 101: Ask Questions!

Lesson 1: Know Your Assignment

Ask Questions!

If you are confused about any part of the assignment, it is your responsibility to ask questions.

  • Do you understand all of the requirements?  What clues can you get from Limit Words in the assignment?
ex: types of sources required, number of sources needed, preferred citation style

  • Do you know exactly how your work will be graded/evaluated?  Look for a grading scale, rubric or list of criteria.

Talking to your fellow classmates can help you understand an assignment better. However, keep in mind that the person grading your assignment is probably the best person to answer your questions.

Ask your instructor if you are unclear about any details!
