Research 101: How to Cite

How to Cite

How do you cite sources?
Citations within your paper link specific passages to the sources you consulted or quoted.  In addition, a list of works cited is usually placed at the end of your paper. The citation system and format you use will be determined by the citation style you choose.

How do you choose a style?
Ask your instructor which style sheet he or she wishes you to use and if there are other special formatting instructions you should follow.

How do you find information about citation styles?
Busse Library has a number of handouts and tutorials on citation styles listed on the Citation Assistance page on the Library web site.

How do you get assistance with citations?
The Library would be glad to help you with your citations.
