This week as we get back into the rhythm of the semester, we will be highlighting the Busse Library staff, focusing on a different staff member each day.

Today we'd like you to meet Anna Schmall, one of the librarians on staff.

1. What is your role in the library?

I am the Research & Instruction Librarian and liaison to the nursing and education programs.

2. What does your role typically include?

A lot of APA questions! I help with student research projects when it comes to database searching or finding sources and formatting citations. Class visits to talk about library resources and making sure we have updated materials like handouts or videos to answer student questions- for a variety of majors- are a pretty constant part of my job. Some of what keeps me busy should also be questions coming from faculty and students!

3. What do you like to do when you aren’t at work?

When the weather is nice, I am outside to explore different trails in the area.  If I am indoors I usually have sewing projects to work on and at least one book I am reading at any given time. Travel plans are slowly starting to happen again too after being on hold for the past year.

4. What have you been reading/listening/watching recently?

I’ve been reading a lot of historical fiction lately.  The last book I finished was The Light of Luna Park, about the incubators at Coney Island, and I am in the middle of Churchill’s Secret Messenger, about British spies helping the French Resistance during WWII. On Netflix I’m watching The Movies that Made Us.
